Junior school

Children’s first year at school sets the scene for the rest of their schooling years.  We value and acknowledge that it is the most important of all of their years of schooling.  Our Prep program focuses on the importance of building confidence, independence, and a positive attitude towards learning.

Our experienced teachers acknowledge that all children are unique with specific learning needs and abilities.   Developmentally children at this age learn best by participating in , interactive, hands on learning across a variety of experiences.  The official implementation of Australian Curriculum in 2012 will give children the best possible start to their learning.

The children are assessed through the following learning areas:
  • social and personal learning
  • health and physical learning
  • language learning and communication
  • early mathematical understandings
  • active learning processes

Children learn these important essentials through:
  • routines and transitions,
  • investigations,
  • play,
  • real life situations and
  • focused teaching and learning

All activities have a strong focus on developing children’s literacy, numeracy and communication skills. Parents are encouraged to take an active role in their child’s learning program.

Our Prep program is a full time program that operates within the regular school hours.  Prep children participate in music and physical education specialist lessons each week.
