Student Leadership is a fundamental key to the ongoing and continued success of Undurba State School. Our students are not just given leadership roles - they actively shape them. Through student led committees, they design and drive improvement initiatives that make a real impact across and beyond our school community. Our leadership team has collaboratively developed what it means to be a student leader at Undurba, believing that leadership is not defined by a badge, but by our daily efforts to support others and contribute meaningfully to school life.
From Year 5 onwards, students can apply to become Student Leaders, taking on roles that build confidence, responsibility, and community spirit. Senior Leaders play an important role in supporting younger students in the playground and library. They also assist in running school events and initiatives that support the wellbeing of our school community.
Student Leaders in Year 5 are also invited to nominate for prestigious roles such as School Captain and House Captain in Year 6. These students deliver speeches to their peers, outlining their leadership vision and values. Our student leaders represent Undurba with pride at formal events like the ANZAC Parade, school ceremonies, and inter-school activities. They also lead weekly school parades and play a key role in coordinating fun and inclusive school events including our much loved school discos to build community spirit and student connection.
At the heart of our leadership program are the I CARE values, which guide every student's journey:
- I care for my learning
- I care for myself
- I care for my school
- I care for others
These values empower our leaders and all students to act with integrity, compassion, and purpose. They are central to building a school culture that is respectful, inclusive, and focused on helping every student thrive.
